We offer regular fencing beginner classes for adults in foil fencing. Our beginner fencing classes are held at the club on Monday OR Wednesday evenings*, from 7pm-9.15pm, and last for 5 consecutive weeks.  The cost for your 5-week course is just £99 per person (approximately 10 hours of fencing), and you can book online.

You'll learn about the history of fencing, how to hold the sword, basic bladework and footwork. You'll also learn basic attacking and defensive techniques in fencing. The classes are conducted in groups, often with work in pairs. Towards the end of the course you'll be able to have an electric bout yourself!

The evening starts at 7pm for the group warm-up and footwork session, followed by bladework, ending at 9.15pm. For the class, you'll need to wear trainers, a t-shirt, and tracksuit bottoms (shorts not allowed). All other fencing equipment is provided. There are changing rooms and showers at the venue (bring your own towel), and you may want to bring a bottle of water with you.

Fencing only requires an ordinary level of fitness. It will help to improve your stamina, flexibility, fitness and concentration. It's challenging, exciting, and great fun. We also socialise regularly in the pub after each fencing session, and we definitely encourage you to join us!

We hope to see you at the club.  If you have any questions, please get in touch.

* Five consecutive Mondays OR five consecutive Wednesdays

ALTERNATIVELY, WHY NOT TRY A FENCING TASTER CLASS FOR JUST £20?

"The beginner's course was great fun. I knew nothing about fencing beforehand, but the club coaches were really friendly and encouraging and I looked forward to every session.
